What a lengthy drama and spectacle, corruption in Pakistan is! We first watched lengthy corruption proceedings against the family of Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, that began over a year ago. We then watched the submission of a lengthy corruption report by the Joint Investigation Team on 10 July 2017. We next watched as the Sharif family filed lengthy legal objections a week later, on 17 July 2017. And now, we watch as the ruling party and the opposition parties begin lengthy bickering and squabbling, many long months before the election year even starts.
So what have we seen of the stance of the ruling party, the PML-N, towards corruption? Its stance is that corruption is everywhere and so investigation is not only a waste of time, it is an obstacle to delivery. On 6 May 2017, Nawaz Sharif stated, “There is so much corruption in the country that if we get involved in probing them all our time will be consumed in the investigations and we will not be able to deliver.”
And what of the stance of the main opposition party, the PPP? Is it any better? No, it merely confirms the stance of the PML-N that corruption is part and parcel of the current system. Indeed, the PPP, has its ranks filled with those who filled their bellies when it was their turn to rule, whilst the PML-N patiently waited for its turn, as agreed upon in the alliance of the corrupt, the Charter of Democracy.
And what do we see of the PTI, the party who wants to end the turn-by-turn politics of the PML-N and PPP, so as to wrench and grab from these allies in corruption, its own turn to rule? Is it really a source of hope and relief? Well, the PTI’s own ranks are being filled with corrupt politicians, including those formerly with the PML-N and the PPP, with the pathetic justification that only the corrupt are “electables”!
So, where do we find ourselves now, with such choices before us?! Are we doomed to be mere spectators to clashes between the corrupt, for the chance to rule over us, in a system that attracts the corrupt, favours the corrupt and is immersed in corruption?!!!
O Muslims of Pakistan!
Truly, we are only doomed to such a pathetic situation and such pitiful choices, as long as we live under the current system of ruling, Democracy. There is no shortage of sincere and loyal Muslims in Pakistan, but Democracy is a prized tool for the corrupt, who gather over it like swarming bees over honey. The corrupt all rush to support the continuity of Democracy because it firmly places law making, deciding what is right and wrong, what is Halal and Haraam, in the hands of those elected. Democracy ensures that the corrupt are able to legalize their corruption, through making laws such as the Protection of Economics Reforms Act, the Seventeenth Amendment and the National Reconciliation Ordinance. This is why we see the corrupt visiting us actively before elections, spending huge amounts of money for our votes. Then we watch their backs as they stroll into Democracy, to secure a huge financial return on the money they spent.
Democracy has ensured corruption in Pakistan for seven decades and will continue to do so for another seven decades, if it remains. The Panama Papers revealed that Democracy ensures corruption all over the world, from Russia to South America, not just in Pakistan. For many decades, Democracy ensured that corrupt rulers could hide their ill gotten gains in off shore companies, without detection and investigation, trial and tribunal. It is because of Democracy that all over the world, resource rich countries have oppressed, poor citizens but immensely rich, corrupt rulers. Clearly, seeking an end of corruption through Democracy is as futile as seeking cure through the disease itself!
O Muslims of Pakistan!
We will only see an end to corruption and the low standards of Democracy, through Islam’s system of ruling, the Khilafah upon the Method of Prophethood. The Khilafah upon the Method of the Prophethood alone firmly closes the doors to corruption shut, as its laws are not made according to the whims and desires of the created, but the Revelation of the Creator (swt). Its laws are not made by a majority show of hands from assemblies filled with the corrupt, but are derived from the Kitaab of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of RasulAllah (saaw).
It is because of ruling by the Quran and Sunnah, that our elevated standard for rulers is the Khaleefah Rashid, Abu Bakr (ra), who was stopped on his way to trade to alleviate his poverty, by his ruling assistants. Our elevated standard is the Khaleefah Rashid, Umar al-Khattab (ra), who humbly accepted to be accounted for a single extra piece of cloth. Our elevated standard is the Khaleefah Rashid, Usman “Ghani” (ra), who before ruling had loaded trading caravans that made the ground the shake as they moved, but after entering ruling maintained a simple living. And our elevated standard is the Khaleefah Rashid, Ali (ra), who rapidly conceded his judicial case against the Jew over the theft of a single shield, through the lack of witnesses!
So, strive O Muslims, with the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir for the end of corruption and oppression, through establishing the Khilafah on the Method of the Prophethood. Strive at a time when the world, from America in the West to China in the East, has tired of Democracy and the corrupt ruling elite it feeds and nurtures. Strive at a time when the Muslim World, from Morocco in the West to Indonesia in the East, has awoken to its true purpose in this life. Strive to end the corruption and oppression of Democracy on this earth, seeking earnestly the glad tidings of RasulAllah (saaw), when he (saaw) said,
«ثُمَّ تَكُونُ مُلْكًا جَبْرِيَّةً فَتَكُونُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ خِلَافَةٌ عَلَى مِنْهَاجِ النُّبُوَّةِ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ»
“Then there will be an oppressive rule, and things will be as Allah wishes them to be. Then Allah will end it when He wishes. Then there will be a Khilafah according to the method of Prophethood.” Then he (saaw) fell silent.” [Ahmed]
O Muslims of Pakistan’s Armed Forces!
Democracy, the guardian of corruption and oppression, continues today only because traitors in your leadership have only ever used your strength in support of man-made law. How do you accept such abuse of your strength, O you who have taken oath before Allah (swt) to protect the country and its people?!
And how do you accept such abuse of your strength, when RasulAllah (saw) established the Islamic State by securing Nussrah (Material Support) from your predecessors in war, fire and steel, the fighting men of the Ansaar? Grant the Nussrah now to Hizb ut Tahrir for the immediate restoration of the Khilafah Rashidah (Righteous Caliphate) upon the Method of Prophethood, seizing the corrupt at the height of their oppression, earning the pleasure of Allah (swt) and averting His punishment upon you. RasulAllah (saw) said,
«إنَّ النَّاسَ إَذا رَأوُا الظَّالِمَ فَلمْ يَأْخُذُوا عَلى يَدَيْهِ أوْشَكَ أن يَعُمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ بعِقَاب»
“If the people witness an oppressor and they do not take him by his hands (to prevent him) then they are close to Allah covering them all with punishment.” [Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, ibn Majah].
