On the evening of Friday, 02/02/2024, in front of Al-Lakhmi Mosque in the city of Sfax, two women from Hizb ut Tahrir were arrested on the backdrop of distributing a statement in support of Gaza. Prior to this, there was a raid on the home of one of the Hizb’s young women in the city of Hammamet on the previous Friday, 26/01/2024, where a large police force forcibly entered the house without permission. The police attempted to arrest the women and take them to the security area for questioning, butthe women refused and preferred to go to the security area by their own means, where they underwent lengthy interrogation. They were later released to appear before the court on Monday, 29/01/2024.
- At a time when we can no longer bear to turn on the television and witness the massacres occurring after nearly four relentless months of merciless warfare by the occupying Jewish entity, backed by the epitome of evil, America, against our people in the Blessed Land.
- At a time when people are exhausted, facing bewilderment and helplessness on how to support their brothers while the borders of the colonialists divide them.
- At a time when men walk with bowed heads under the weight of the shame of their helplessness, feeling powerless in the face of the resounding voices of the women of Palestine calling on them to rise up and seek vengeance against the usurpers of land and honor.
- At a time when Jews violate the sanctity of Muslim women and an elderly Palestinian - representing my mother and yours - is ordered to remove her garment to be searched by the filthy hands of the Jews…
At this time, young women from Hizb ut Tahrir are being arrested, despite the heavy responsibilities they bear, for their efforts to rally the Ummah in support of our people in Gaza and the call of the free armies of the Ummah to move to liberate the Blessed Land of Palestine. Since when are women arrested and humiliated in the country of Islam and the land of the olive tree?!
The forcefully imposed secular system tells women of Tunisia: “You are politically empowered, but the right to expression, liberation, thought, and governance is granted only when it confronts and challenges men. This is the limit of political action prescribed for women in Tunisia!” However, if women were to carry the burden of the Ummah in their hearts above the burden of their families and children, amidst the bitterness of living under the oppression of the capitalist system, then this - in the secular system’s view - is a major sin and a limit that should not be crossed!
Truly, we pity the tools of colonialism who, while engaging in shameful and disgraceful acts, claim: “We were forced, and we did not want that!” We remind them that even the kuffar of Quraysh, despite their kufr and ignorance, had a sense of honor that prevented them from invading the Prophet’s (saw) house, saying: “By Allah, it is a disgrace among the Arabs that it be said we have invaded the house of our cousin and violated our own sanctity.” And we remind them of the speech of Allah (swt):
((وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلاَةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُوْلَـئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اللهُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ))
“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.” [At-Tawba:71].
We will also continue to remind them that supporting (nusrah) the Ummah is obligatory upon us, following the saying of our Prophet Muhammad, the best of peace and blessings be upon him:
مَا مِنِ امْرِئٍ يَخْذُلُ امْرَأً مُسْلِمًا فِي مَوْضِعٍ تُنْتَهَكُ فِيهِ حُرْمَتُهُ وَيُنْتَقَصُ فِيهِ مِنْ عِرْضِهِ إِلاَّ خَذَلَهُ اللَّهُ فِي مَوْطِنٍ يُحِبُّ فِيهِ نُصْرَتَهُ وَمَا مِنِ امْرِئٍ يَنْصُرُ مُسْلِمًا فِي مَوْضِعٍ يُنْتَقَصُ فِيهِ مِنْ عِرْضِهِ وَيُنْتَهَكُ فِيهِ مِنْ حُرْمَتِهِ إِلاَّ نَصَرَهُ اللَّهُ فِي مَوْطِنٍ يُحِبُّ نُصْرَتَهُ»»
“No (Muslim) man will desert a man who is a Muslim in a place where his respect may be violated and his honour aspersed without Allah deserting him in a place here he wishes his help; and no (Muslim) man who will help a Muslim in a place where his honour may be aspersed and his respect violated without Allah helping him in a place where he wishes his help.”
